A hydraulic press is a machine that uses liquid static pressure to process various materials. Servo control is a precision drive technology developed in recent decades. A servo hydraulic press is a new type of press that combines servo control technology with a hydraulic system. It refers to the main transmission oil pump driven by a servo motor, reducing the control valve circuit, and adjusting the main oil pump to achieve precise control of the slider.

The servo hydraulic press is a round body. A pressure sensor is installed in the upper chamber of the main oil cylinder of the hydraulic press, and a displacement sensor is installed at the slider of the hydraulic press. The controller calculates the speed of the servo motor based on the pressure feedback signal, position feedback signal, pressure given signal, position given signal, speed given signal, etc., thereby controlling the output of the hydraulic pump for pressure, speed, and position control.

The servo-driven hydraulic press controls the pressure, speed, position and other parameters of the hydraulic press by adjusting the speed of the servo motor. It eliminates the pressure control valve, flow control valve and other components in the hydraulic control circuit and simplifies the hydraulic control circuit. When the slider is fast descending and the slider is stationary at the upper limit for loading and unloading, the servo motor speed is zero; the speed of the servo motor is determined by the set speed when the slider is pressurized and returned; the speed of the servo motor only compensates for the leakage of the pump and system when the slider is pressurized. The motor of the traditional hydraulic press is always at a constant speed during the entire working process.

Compared with the traditional hydraulic press, the application of servo control technology in the hydraulic press has the following advantages:

High precision of hydraulic press

The servo motor is mainly positioned by pulses. Each time it receives a pulse, it will rotate by the angle corresponding to the pulse. Considering the servo motor alone, its control accuracy can reach 1/1024 circle. Combined with the corresponding sensor, it can achieve precise control of any position of the slider. Compared with the traditional hydraulic press, the motion curve of the servo hydraulic press can be optimized. The appropriate slider curve can suppress the rebound of the plate pressing process and improve the accuracy.

High flexibility of hydraulic press

The slider motion curve can be optimized according to different production industries and molds, and special working characteristic curves can be designed for high-difficulty and high-precision processing to achieve “free movement” of the slider. The slider motion mode can be reciprocating, stop at the bottom dead center and other complex motion modes.

High efficiency of hydraulic press

The number of slider strokes can be set within a large range, and the slider speed and stroke are easy to adjust. According to the forming process, the slider can work at the minimum stroke. With the help of automatic feeding technology, the production efficiency is greatly improved.

Energy saving of hydraulic press

Compared with mechanical presses, servo hydraulic presses eliminate flywheels and clutches and adopt direct transmission. The transmission links are greatly reduced, the amount of lubrication is reduced, and the maintainability is strong. There is no clutch engagement energy consumption. After the slider stops, the motor stops, and there is no motor or pulley idling, and the energy consumption is significantly reduced. In ordinary mechanical presses, the flywheel idling energy consumption accounts for about 6% to 30% of the total energy consumption, and the clutch (mainly friction clutch) energy consumption accounts for about 20% of the total energy. Servo hydraulic presses do not have flywheels and clutches, so this part of energy can be saved.
