Recently, our company received an inquiry from an Argentine customer. The customer focuses on the manufacturing of industrial plastic products and lightweight aluminum parts and wants to upgrade the current equipment to meet the emerging customer’s demand for micro precision parts. They want: a relatively small lathe with a small floor space, capable of manufacturing aluminum or plastic parts, with a maximum diameter of 100 millimeters and a maximum length of 100 millimeters. It would be best if it is controlled by Siemens, as this system was often used in previous processing applications.
A precisely matched solution
According to his needs, I matched a micro CNC lathe CK210B which can perfectly meet his requirements. In terms of processing capacity, its maximum rotary diameter reaches 210 millimeters and the processing length can reach 150 mm far exceeding the customer’s requirement of 100 mm ×100 mm, reserving space for subsequent capacity expansion. The control system is equipped with the SINUMERIK 808D numerical control system. With high-resolution encoders and closed-loop control technology, it can stably output high-precision finished products whether it is the fine turning of aluminum parts or plastic products. At the intelligent level, the equipment integrates intelligent diagnosis and adaptive processing functions, which can automatically optimize cutting parameters and significantly improve production efficiency.

In the processing of precision small parts, the CK210B micro CNC lathe, in combination with the SINUMERIK 808D CNC system, can efficiently produce high-quality parts. The main processing flow is as follows:
Preparation before processing |
Start the CK210B lathe and inspect the lubrication, chuck and other components. Enter the Siemens 808D system to confirm the machine tool parameters. Select the tool based on the material of the part. For example, use a high-speed steel tool for aluminum alloy and a diamond-coated tool for plastic. Install the tool and enter the compensation parameters. Clamp the workpiece blank and complete the tool setting in the coordinate system. |
Programming and program debugging |
The tool path is modeled and generated by CAD/CAM software, converted into NC code and the cutting parameters are set. Transfer the code to the system, first simulate its operation, and then actually debug it with “single-segment operation” to adjust the parameters and paths. |
Actual processing |
Switch to automatic operation, and the Siemens 808D system controls the lathe processing. The system utilizes encoders and closed-loop technology to ensure accuracy, intelligently diagnoses and monitors machine tools, and optimizes parameters through adaptive functions. |
Post-processing inspection and treatment |
Use measuring tools to inspect the accuracy of the parts, compare the tolerances and roughness with the drawings, and make adjustments if they are not up to standard. Deburring, grinding and other post-treatment are carried out on the parts as required, and finally the qualified parts are marked and packaged. |
