How does a CNC drilling machine process steel structures?

Recently, an Algerian customer of Shanghai ANTISHICNC Company needed to purchase a CNC drilling machine for drilling steel and other process operations. The company specializes in the production of steel structures for the construction industry. In building steel structures, such as bridges, high-rise buildings, etc., a large number of holes need to be drilled for connection and fixation. CNC drilling machines can accurately drill various specifications of steel sections, steel plates, etc., to improve the connection strength and stability of steel structures.

The maximum processing table size is 2000*3000mm, the thickness of the processed hole is 50mm, and the diameter is between 50-100mm. The customer provided photos of the workpieces to be processed, as shown in the figure:

According to customer needs, ANTISHICNC engineer successfully matched a CNC drilling machine for the customer – HD3020-1. The maximum table diameter is 3000*2000mm. ANTISHICNC engineers will introduce you to the processing flow of HD-3020-1 CNC lathe:

1.Processing preparation stage:

(1) Analysis of part drawings: Carefully study the part drawings to clarify the location, size (including diameter, depth, etc.), accuracy requirements (such as dimensional tolerance, form and position tolerance), quantity and distribution of the holes to be processed.

(2) Determine the processing route and consider whether it is necessary to perform center drilling positioning first, then drilling, or reaming and other subsequent processes.

2.CNC programming:

(1) According to the part drawings and processing technology, use CNC programming language (such as G code, M code) to write programs.

(2) Write the processing path for each hole, including the tool quickly positioning to the starting position of the hole. For multiple equidistant holes on a simple plane part, the coordinate position of each hole needs to be calculated during programming, and then the drilling instructions are executed cyclically.

3.Processing stage

(1) Start the machine tool and initialize: The machine tool controls the tool to quickly move to the starting processing position above the workpiece according to the instructions of the CNC program.

(2) Tool positioning and processing: For the processing of multiple holes, after completing one hole, the tool will quickly move to the position of the next hole according to the path set by the program, and repeat the drilling operation until all holes are processed.

4.Post-processing stage

Quality inspection:

The dimensional accuracy of the processed holes is checked, and the hole diameter and hole depth are measured using tools such as calipers and micrometers to see if they meet the tolerance range specified in the drawing.
